November 25th is Small Business Saturday

Posted by Blog Admin on Friday, November 24th, 2017 at 10:19am.

At Peggy Slappey Properties, we love to celebrate the communities where we do business, and that includes encouraging all of you to #shopsmall this Saturday, November 25th. Small Business Saturday is always the Saturday after Thanksgiving, flanked on both sides by Black Friday and Cyber Monday.  It’s right in the middle of the busiest shopping weekend of the year, and is your opportunity to support the businesses that fuel your local economy.

The very first Small Business Saturday happened in 2010, promoted by American Express. Today, it’s a national phenomenon, a reminder to spend your dollars locally in support of jobs, community well-being, and the local economy. According to American Express, it’s estimated that 54% of all sales occur at a small local business, and $68 of every $100 spent stays in the local economy.  Plus, small businesses give more – a lot more – to local charities.  Statistics show they contribute 250% more than large retailers and corporations.

This Saturday, keep it local.  Stroll your town’s main street and visit the cute boutique or the trendy coffee shop where you’ve always wanted to stop.  Stay for lunch, buy gift cards, and find unique gifts that large retailers never knew they needed to keep in stock.  Each business represents a person and a family with a dream of financial independence.  Support those dreams and your local economy by shopping small to kick off the holiday season. We'll do the same!
