Warmer temperatures in Metro Atlanta this past weekend have all of us looking forward to spring. It will bring sunny days, blooming flowers, baseball, and…the busy Spring Real Estate Market! If you’re waiting for spring to list your home, start getting ready now with a few easy tips:

Yard Maintenance

Although your grass is probably still dormant, there are plenty of other chores in the yard to do while it’s chilly outside. Did you know the late winter months are the perfect time to trim shrubs like rose bushes, crepe myrtle, and boxwood? Pruning now will give room for new growth in the months ahead and will keep the plants healthier, too.  Metro Atlanta has had some crazy weather in recent weeks, with snow, ice, and wind. Remove fallen branches and rake up the leaves knocked loose by the wind, making your outdoor space tidy and inviting.

Early Spring Cleaning

Start scrubbing now, focusing on areas that don’t get deep cleaned very often, like area rugs, furniture, and your oven. For comprehensive cleaning, experts recommend a top-down approach. Start by looking up to see if you’ve missed the dust on the ceiling fan or a stray cobweb in the corner. End by cleaning the floors with a disinfectant that will leave them shining. When it’s closer to list-time, you’ll be able to focus on quick, daily cleaning to keep your kitchen and bathrooms sparkling while your house is being shown.

Start Packing the Small Stuff

While doing that early spring clean, it’s a great idea to start de-cluttering. Remember, the goal is to help a buyer imagine themselves living in your home. If you have tons of family photographs or a large tea cup collection on display, consider packing some of those items now. It will save you time later and allow less distraction to buyers when they view your home.
