At Peggy Slappey Properties, the health and well being of our clients and customers is always important to us, and now more than ever we are taking extra precautions to ensure we all stay safe while the business of real estate continues. Our industry is one of the lucky ones – showings do not require large groups of people to gather and there are plentiful cautionary measures we can all take to reduce the risk of exposure during this time of social distancing.

This past weekend brought an unexpected blast of winter to North Georgia, reminding us all that no matter what happened on Groundhog Day, Spring is still many weeks away. Maybe you’ve heard that the best time to buy or sell a home is during the busy spring market, traditionally the hottest time of year in real estate. However, in 2020 that old “rule” has been upended.

January 2020 was one of the busiest on record for Peggy Slappey Properties agents. Traffic in new home communities is way up from previous years at the same time, and resale properties – especially in Gwinnett County – are hot. This is great news for the metro Atlanta real estate market, and even better news for both buyers and sellers.

Keep Holiday Decorations Simple

Selling at Christmastime doesn’t mean you need to skip decorating altogether. Hang onto your holiday cheer, but keep it simple: a tree, stockings, and greenery in a tight color palette that compliments your everyday décor. Outdoor lights should be simple, too;

Fall is a fantastic time to sell your home. Buyers at this time of year are highly motivated to find a home quickly, before the holiday season arrives. Autumn foliage gives a timely, colorful boost to your home’s curb appeal, and there are some easy staging tips to make your home more welcoming than at any other time of year.

Turn Up the Lights

As the days grow shorter, it becomes more important than ever to let your home’s light shine. Literally, turn on the lights in each room before showings, as well as outdoor lights. Replace dingy bulbs and clean light fixtures so that soft, white light fills each space. Make your home a welcoming sanctuary on a dark evening, and home shoppers will remember it as a brightly lit, friendly place they could

Is your home’s landscaping a little tired this fall? Turns out, now is the ideal time to place new plants for a landscape that will dazzle come spring! Planting now allows roots to take hold and grow strong throughout the winter months, especially here in Metro Atlanta, where the ground never freezes. Amp up your home’s landscaping curb appeal this fall with a mix of bulbs, shrubs, trees, and perennials.

Perennials

The cooler fall months are the ideal time to plant perennials. Unsure what makes a plant a perennial? Monday, September 23rd is the officially the first day of fall! Shelves are stocked with everything pumpkin spice, mums are blooming, and leaves will soon start changing color.
