Pick a Pumpkin, Take a Hayride

Posted by Blog Admin on Thursday, September 29th, 2022 at 9:27am.

Fall is finally here, and the cool fall temperatures have arrived with it! It's time to get outside, take a day trip to the North Georgia Mountains, and visit your local pumpkin patch. Here are just a few of our favorite destinations for big fall fun:

Buford Corn Maze – Buford, GA

Now officially open for the season, Buford Corn Maze is the close-to-home fall excursion you don’t want to miss. Find your way through the five-acre maze, visit with farm animals, take a hayride, and even walk through the haunted forest. Tickets start at just $16 and can be purchased online or in person. Hours vary, but you can check them out HERE.

Hike at Tallulah Gorge State Park - Tallulah Falls, GA

Experience breathtaking views for just a $5 parking fee! Tallulah Gorge is two miles long and close to 1,000 feet deep. There are easy rim trails to scenic overlooks, or a more challenging hike to the gorge floor. Spectacular views of the river and falls await from the suspension bride, which sways 80 feet above the rocky bottom. Get there before 10am to ensure you get a permit to hike; numbers are limited each day to protect the area.

Jaemor Farms – Lula, GA

This farm offers fun for each changing season, and it’s now open for fall! Purchase an all-access pass for just $15. Get lost in the corn maze, search the pumpkin patch for just the right jack-o-lantern, and peruse the general store for fresh produce and all your fall favorites.

Gold Rush Days - Dahlonega, GA

Always held the third full weekend in October, this year's Gold Rush Days happens October 15th and 16th. It's a celebration of the 1828 discovery of gold in Dahlonega, when 300 artisans and food vendors gather around the Public Square and Historic District. Run in the Gold Rush 5K, enter the Beard Growing Contest, or settle in for an Old Time Fashion Show. There will be live music all weekend long. The event begins at 8am on Saturday and 10am on Sunday.

Burt’s Pumpkin Farm – Dawsonville, GA

Burt’s Pumpkin Farm welcomed visitors back for the season at the beginning of September and is open daily from 9am to 6pm. The farm offers hayrides, a huge variety of pumpkins, local jams, jellies and pies, and some of the best scenery in the North Georgia Mountains. The drive through the mountains alone is worth the trip! Admission to the farm is free, although there is a small fee for the hayride.

Uncle Shuck’s – Dawsonville, GA

Uncle Shuck’s Corn Maze and Pumpkin Patch is a North Georgia tradition, offering a 15-acre corn maze sure to entertain. Pick your own pumpkin, climb the tire mountain, hop on the jumping pillow, and even go gem mining. On Friday and Saturday nights in October, brave The Dark Rows, a spooky haunted trail through the most twisted trails in the corn field. Check hours and rates HERE.
