Staging Tips for a Faster Fall Sale

Fall is a fantastic time to sell your home. Buyers at this time of year are highly motivated to find a home quickly, before the holiday season arrives. Autumn foliage gives a timely, colorful boost to your home’s curb appeal, and there are some easy staging tips to make your home more welcoming than at any other time of year.

Turn Up the Lights

As the days grow shorter, it becomes more important than ever to let your home’s light shine. Literally, turn on the lights in each room before showings, as well as outdoor lights. Replace dingy bulbs and clean light fixtures so that soft, white light fills each space. Make your home a welcoming sanctuary on a dark evening, and home shoppers will remember it as a brightly lit, friendly place they could call “home.”

Use Seasonal Scents

Fall brings cinnamon and apple pie, freshly baked cookies, and pumpkin spice everything. Use some of those seasonal scents in your home, whether in an air freshener, candles, or real cookies in the oven. Just remember not to use too many competing scents. Choose just one for the main level of your home, perhaps another for upstairs, and that’s it. Every room does not need its own flavor!

Light a Fire

Nothing says “cozy” like a crackling fire. If your home has a fireplace, light it up when you know buyers will be visiting. Especially for late afternoon or early evening showings, a fire will be welcoming and warm after a cool fall day.

Simple Autumnal Décor

Bring some of the outdoors in, but keep it simple. A few-well placed pumpkins, colorful chrysanthemums, and a wreath with fall colors are all you need. Don’t go overboard, even if fall is your favorite season and you have boxes and boxes of fall florals stored away. Save them for next year, when you’re in your new home and the only person to please is yourself!
