Summer’s Top Design Trends

Thinking of remodeling? We’ve rounded up the summer’s hottest trends in home design, from a complete bathroom re-do to easy fixes under $100 that will have your home feeling fresh and ready for summer.
Crisp, White Interiors
Summer means open windows and time spent in the sunshine. It’s also a great time to de-clutter, clean, and make your home feel refreshed. All-white design themes are easy to accomplish in kitchens and baths, where tile, stone, cabinetry, and linens come in many shades of white. White walls are gaining popularity again, too, and are a great back drop for photo galleries, artwork, or rustic wood finishes.
Pops of Color
Against your cool white background, consider a pop of color here and there. A flea market chair painted bright red or throw pillows in ocean blue are designers’ favorite colors for summer as we approach Independence Day. Decorating for holidays doesn’t have to be theme-heavy. Instead, choose items more subtle that you might choose to live with even after the holiday has passed.
Minimal Patterns
The last several years have seen patterns galore: rugs, curtains, bedding, furniture – all covered in pretty patterns that draw the eye. But Summer 2017 brings in a cooler, more relaxing and refined design style. To easily refresh your room, replace boldly-patterned pillows or curtains with a solid color instead. Go easy on the pattern-play, and you’ll be right on trend.
Bring the Outdoors In
This is a design trend that gains popularity each year as the temperature starts heating up. Furniture designed for outdoor use now looks just as plush and comfortable as your living room furniture. Arrange your deck or patio with couches, ottomans, and end tables just like you would your main living area inside. Add an indoor/outdoor rug, and you’ve got a whole new place to kick back. The overriding theme this summer is comfort, so turn your outdoor space into a place you’d choose to spend the best stay-cation ever!
