It’s HOT in Metro Atlanta, and summer vacation is drawing to a close.  Before the kids go back to school, try one of these fun escapes to the North Georgia Mountains, where you can cool off in the Chattahoochee, learn how to pan for gold, or hike a waterfall trail.

Check out Consolidated Gold Mine in Dahlonega, GA, where gold was first discovered in 1828 – 20 years before the California Gold Rush.  An extensive network of mining tunnels abandoned for 75 years is still in the process of being cleaned out, and tours underground include the original “Glory Hole,” where a 22-foot wide vein of quartz laced with gold was mined in the 1880’s. Take the tour, pan for gold and gems, and have the onsite jewelry-makers turn your treasure into a keepsake.

Are you thinking of selling your home but worry that your kids could ruin the process before it even starts?  It’s summer, so the kids are home more often, and they like to leave their mark. Cheerios under the couch, giant toy boxes in the living room, and messy kids’ bedrooms can indeed be turn-offs to buyers, so here are a few tips to help parents sell quickly without all the stress:

Invite Kids to Help De-Clutter

Cleaning up and packing the clutter is the first step in any plan to sell a home, but with kids involved, it gets a little tricky.  A great way to avoid the tantrums caused by packing their favorite stuffed friends is to let them choose what stays and what gets packed and put into storage.  Explain that their things are not

Crisp, White Interiors

Summer means open windows and time spent in the sunshine. It’s also a great time to de-clutter, clean, and make your home feel refreshed.  All-white design themes are easy to accomplish in kitchens and baths, where tile, stone, cabinetry, and linens come in many shades of white. White walls are gaining popularity again, too, and are a great back drop for photo galleries, artwork, or rustic wood finishes.

Pops of Color

It’s Valentine’s Day and love is in the air…unless your home has been sitting on the market for weeks without any interest from buyers and you feel nothing but frustration.  Not to worry – the real estate “love doctors” at Peggy Slappey Properties have expert tips to find your home’s soulmate and help them fall in love.

Make a Great First Impression

Most buyers start their home search online, so their first impression comes from photos and brief descriptions.  Review these, compare them to other listings, and make appropriate changes.  Bad grammar and hard-to-read text can turn buyers off in a hurry.  But succinct language that touches all your home’s high points can lure them in for a showing.  And photos are everything in online searches!
